Dear Prospective Company,

The Urban League of Greater Dallas Young Professionals (ULGDYP), an auxiliary organization of the Urban League of Greater Dallas and North Central Texas, is a network of professionals ages 21 to 40, who work to advance the Urban League’s agenda by establishing programs focused on professional development, community outreach, political participation, health and economic empowerment. Over the past few years, we have generated over 1500 community service hours, mentored more than 500 youth and taught financial literacy courses for people ranging from children to seniors.

We also serve the Urban League of Great Dallas and North Central Texas in support of their programs in the areas of Education, Health, Employment, Housing and Technology. We identify needs within our community and with our talents and resources we work to create effective solutions.

In 2007, the National Urban League (NUL) developed a set of principles and policies designed to empower all Americans to be full participants in the economic and social mainstream of our Nation. The NUL’s goal for these principles, The Opportunity Compact, is to be a proactive change agent in the development of public policy. There are four cornerstones to the Opportunity Compact: Opportunity to Thrive (Education), Opportunity to Earn (Jobs), Opportunity to Own (Home Ownership), and Opportunity to Prosper (Entrepreneurship).

The aim of the Opportunity to Prosper Compact is to ensure that every individual in America who posses entrepreneurial vision, ingenuity, drive and desire should have access to the resources needed to establish and grow a viable business enterprise. The ULGDYP plans to focus on the Opportunity to Prosper by hosting our first annual Pursuing Opportunity and Wealth through Entrepreneurial Recruitment conference (P.O.W.E.R.) on June 27, 2009.

This conference will educate entrepreneurs as well as prospective entrepreneurs on business development plans, business banking, obtaining venture capital, hiring employees, business structure, mentorship programs and city, state and federal contracts that may be available in the pursuit of successful entrepreneurship.

We are looking for success partners to ensure that this conference has a positive impact on the greater Dallas and North Central Texas communities.
